When I had a baby with me, and other babies within the cradle worked 12 hours a day cleaning floors and tear off wallpaper. Ha! All was beginning to fall into place, however there was still a long way to go. It was going to take lots of time and money and shopping my favorite to furnish this home. To stay within the budget, I started taking my kids to estate sales looking for of diamonds. The weekly ritual was that we would walk through estate sales and garage sales on Thursdays and Saturdays, purchasing a mix of new and old pieces. My next task was to spend my weekdays painting and sanding outside in our driveway. It looked a bit similar to this... Here is where my obsession with in the process of restoring old furniture got started. When our home was furnished I couldn't stop! The local market had space for me to sell pieces. Then, my collection got to the point that the space I had available was not enough. Then I began hosting open houses in my home where over 1 000 people would come through in a single weekend and could purchase anything they wanted on the ground floor. That's how my company Growing Days was born. Alongside my flourishing company, I also started our family. There was a perfect balance between starting a new business as well as being a mom. Growing Days just seemed to be the right fit. My sweet Nora was born in 2013 and was our 4th child. This was a fantastic direction for my business however, I needed some time off. I got away from the old furniture in order to spend the time I needed with my children. The time was right. After a few minutes the phone started ringing. People were calling me and seeking help for the interior decoration and remodeling. A majority of those calling me were from those who visited my home at one of my furniture open house events. As I went along I began adding clients each day. But it wasn't that long before I was managing several clients, and had a successful home remodeling business. I'm sure you would have made me laugh if I had told you that it would be the foundation of an DIY Network tv series. Actually, I smile slightly when I recall the story.
